Ron Kelly Spurles is the founding Artistic Director of Festival by the Marsh. He is also Director of Drama for the St Andrews Arts Council and Artistic Director of Festival by the Marsh. Ron holds a BFA in Drama in Education as well as an MFA in Theatre Directing from Illinois State University. He has directed more than forty productions including for Montreal’s Imago Theatre, Halifax’s Eastern Front Theatre, and the Illinois Shakespeare Festival. Ron received a directing award from the Kennedy Centre for the Arts in Washington D.C., and he also received the Crake fellowship in Drama at Mount Allison University. He is also an award winning playwright having written more than thirty produced plays, and he also acts and teaches on a regular basis.
